i work for a mental health unit with 2 police officers we deal with people who have drug and mental health issues.
at times over the last 10 years we have "taken down" some large drug affected men, mainly "ice" these days which is epidemic here, and let me tell you even with three of us it is a huge struggle.
sometimes back up is needed or mace spray which is aweful stuff!
Wow...I can't believe the steriotyping that's going on here, that only criminals have problems with cops
I was a victim of abuse and still in further danger and got such a horrible attitude from a cop who was completely disinterested in my situation.
I'm not saying this has always been my experience...I've dealt with some cops that I have a lot of respect for, but it left lasting damage to my confidence.
for those on the board that are unfamiliar with marijuana, each strain of weed is given a name.

This reminds me of something one of the girls pointed out to me in the cong I grew up in. The tune of the verses of song 42 are very similar if not the same as the song "on top of old smokey".
Sorry, right now I can't remember the title of song 42, but I think one of the verses started something like

I am 26 years old, and I am seriously considering rereading the Harry Potter series. I think the books are a lot better than the movies; the movies leave out a lot of the funny bits and add stuff that wasn't in the books. I think the books are actually quite well written.
Sometimes, because we weren't really allowed to be kids, there is nothing wrong with taking an interest in some of the things we missed out on.
Also, if you decide you want to read something that is more adult that has magic, you might like Terry Pratchett's Discworld series. It has a lot of humour in it.

besides having to sit through endless boring meetings during the evenings when they should be in bed getting their necessary rest for school the next day, they are falling asleep in the chairs with their little heads falling over.
then all their fun is taken away by such a strict religion and a desert god which makes them grow up with no self esteem whatsoever.
they tell them they're all sinners from the womb up and only a rod will remove it.
Even Jesus never attended the temple until he was twelve years old, and he didn't get baptised until he was thirty.
Children should not be forced to be a part of religion before they can make an informed decision.

Eva luna, I too heard all kinds of sex related stuff at the meetings that I'd never heard of anywhere else, but I had no way of finding out what any of it meant, so it didn't really mean anything to me. I remember my mother studying one of the youth books with me. It was one of the older books I think, and it had a chapter about masturbation. So, long story short, I was told I wasn't allowed to masturbate, but my mother didn't seem to know how to explain what it was.
Band on the Run, I think you could probably get a lot more than a thousand votes. Not from jws who are still in though, coz they're not allowed to vote on anything.
here's a thought: we're told over and over how employers sing the praises of their jw employees, sometimes with a vague quote about how 'if we could only hire jws, we would as they are so honest'.
however, while some jw employers themselves may hire jw employees (usually cheap entry level positions), most don't.
in fact, many jw's in general who have businesses have a rule not to do work with jws, even those in their congregation.

Even then, they often don't report it. In Australia, we have a mandatory notification law, but none of the abuse I've heard of within the jws here has ever been reported. If a jw elder is the first to here about something, they bully and scare and guilt the kid and their family into not telling anyone outside the congregation.
Also, the WT story about that made up Mary is stretching the two witnesses rule. All she did was happen to see some records. No other witness saw these records. They'll bend it to inforce their own control, but not to protect the children in their congregations.

many in my congregation, including my mom, were given kudos, praise and assembly parts because they took advantage of jehovah's provision through the government....did you notice this, or was it obvious to me because i was raised in the inner city and many people recieved government help?.
Also, these scammers make it harder for those of us who have no choice but to be on some sort of assistance.

My mother was receiving government assistance (which she was entitled to as a single parent of a child with a disability), but it was not enough to live on. Still, she pioneered, put money in the contribution box every week, and occasionally got an underpayed job as a house cleaner. Sometimes we would walk the roughly 10km to the meetings because we couldn't aford to put petrol in the car. But usually, we would go without other things we needed so that she could aford the petrol, because she was always the one to do the round of the nursing homes to take all the old people to the meetings.
